Rev. Mike Van Slingerland is an ordained, evangelical minister from Milton, Ontario, who is widely known for his extensive work with troubled teens. Mike holds an honors Bachelor of Theology degree from Master’s College and Seminary, where he doubled majored in Youth and Child Studies, and Overseas Missionary Development. Mike also has completed and holds Trainer Certificates in Behavioral Management and other Counseling accreditations. He is currently enrolled in the Masters of Education Program offered through Calvin College.
Specifically, Mr. Van Slingerland has twenty (20) plus years experience working with children, youth, families and communities, in both the public and private sectors, most of which has been done in the context of he and his wife, Mary-Anne, running a four bed foster home for severe behavioral teenage boys.
Mike’s career began in 1990 when he founded Prime-time Youth Ministries, a community based initiative in Oakville, Ontario that combined the efforts of numerous churches to meet the needs of young people aged 8 through to 18. From there, Mike went on to develop a similar organization for the Georgian Triangle called Cliff Youth Ministries. In 2004, while directing Cliff Youth Ministries, and ministering on staff at Clearview Community Church, Mike was invited to become the Canadian Director of Freedom Village, a world-wide ministry meeting the needs of troubled teens. Mr. Van Slingerland has a strong passion in raising the funds necessary to meet needs. “Our Lord owns the cattle of a thousand hills. He will provide for MCS if we are faithful to the calling he has put forth”. Mike has served in leadership positions for a number of ministries in Ontario including, Teen Challenge, Freedom Village and Insight for Living.
Mr. Van Slingerland has served on the boards and committees of several charitable organizations. “I look forward to serve and work together, towards the goals of Milton Christian School. Great things await us. What the Lord has begun, he will see to fruition”, said Mike. Mike and his wife, Mary-Anne, son Connor and four teenage foster children live in Milton, Ontario. Mike is a dynamic leader and motivational speaker, accomplished musician, avid outdoors lover, and auto racing fan.
