Milton
Christian
School is currently renting classroom and gymnasium space in the
Southside
Community
Church located at 7480 Derry Road. Classes officially started in September 2006 and the school has now completed its third year of operations.
The facilities have ample space for students in the classrooms, in the gymnasium, and on the playground. MCS is offering classes for students in Junior Kindergarten through to grade 8. Our class sizes are small and we are excited about the high quality of individualized instruction that occur at MCS.
Our curriculum has been obtained from the Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools, Christian Schools International, and Canadian textbook publishers. Christian school curriculum has been professionally written and exceeds Ministry of Education standards. MCS students also take part in a national testing program, the Canadian Test of Basic Skills, in the fall.
Our Junior Kindergarten program runs three full days per week (with an optional five day program) and the Senior Kindergarten class is held five full days per week. This full time JK and SK programs are in response to the needs of parents and students and will provide an excellent preparation for grade 1.
All students are required to wear a school uniform. Transportation is the responsibility of the parents.
Milton
Christian
School History
For decades Christian schools in local communities across
Ontario have provided an opportunity for Christian parents to give their children a Christ-centered, Biblically based education. These schools, spawned out of local churches 40 or 50 years ago, have developed into truly dynamic, interdenominational Christian learning centers. Christian families are attracted from the spectrum of church denominations and most communities across
Southern Ontario have at least one Christian elementary school.
These schools are labeled as independent.
Independence means that the schools are not controlled or funded by Federal, Provincial, or local government. Local Christian schools are owned and operated by legally formed local associations of Christian parents and other interested members of the Christian community. These local associations or school societies are not-for-profit corporations and are registered charities.
Milton has been one of the few remaining population centers in
Southern Ontario without an independent, interdenominational Christian elementary school. Until now.
The MCS society started in 2003 when several Christian families from the Milton area began discussing the feasibility of a local, independent, multi-denominational Christian elementary school similar to those that already exist in Oakville, Mississauga, Georgetown, and
Burlington .
Informal discussions led to public information meetings to gauge interest. Affiliation with the Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools (OACS), the largest association of independent Christian schools in Ontario
, soon followed. With the help and encouragement of OACS the informal
Milton group formed the Milton Christian Education Association (MCEA) in April 2004.
The newly formed association elected a Board of Directors and filed its application as a Not-for-Profit Corporation in
Ontario. In early 2005 MCEA received its registration as a Charity from the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency. This allowed the association to raise the funds necessary to establish the
Milton school.
Board Members at the Grand Opening

The
Milton
Christian
School would like to express it’s heartfelt thanks to the Board members who have helped to found this school. Their vision and their talents were crucial to our successful opening!
After much work and prayer the
Milton
Christian
School opened its doors to students in September 2006. The student population tripled for the 2007-2008 school year and there are currently 68 students enrolled for September 2009.
